Sarah + Brad Intimate Backyard Wedding
Sarah and Brad had originally planned their epic intimate wedding in Big Sur, California. Then Covid 19 hit and plans changed. Their wedding date was set for their 10 year wedding anniversary. To celebrate their 10 year dating anniversary, they quickly planned a backyard marriage ceremony. It wasn’t their original idea or plan, but due to the circumstances, they made a sad situation, something they could celebrate and reserve their special date with marriage. Sarah and Brad had their parents and grandparents, and Sarah’s sister and boyfriend join them in their backyard.
Sarah bought a new dress for their backyard ceremony and Brad wore something more casual. The weekend before their ceremony, they completely transformed their backyard. They worked until the morning of the wedding ceremony building a deck in the backyard and creating a magical setting.
Brad ordered a Birthday Cake from For the Love of Sugar in Detroit. He had meant to order a wedding cake with the flavor of birthday cake. When they received the cake it was covered in sprinkles and color like you would expect a birthday cake to look. Their grandma jumped in and saved the day redecorating the cake, they used the florals they had in their home. During dinner, Brad said that their grandmas saved him from their first fight as a married couple because he ordered the wrong cake! Everyone laughed at the thought of this and it was such a beautiful evening. Everything was working against them with the limits of how many people could celebrate a wedding, a pandemic, the wrong cake, having to redo their backyard, and they had a beautiful wedding ceremony regardless of these things.
A few minutes before the ceremony, Brad had written personal vows for their wedding. The original plan was to read traditional vows. Meagan helped Sarah write her vows minuted before their ceremony and they were so touching.
