Mallika got ready for their wedding at their house with her best friends. Once she was ready, she rode in the same van as Steve to Belle Isle. Steve was blindfolded in the car so that the first look would truly be their first look on their wedding day!
After their first look at Belle Isle, Steve and Mallika headed over to The Whiskey Factory. Mallika went upstairs to freshen up before the ceremony. She had a special moment with her dad where he saw her in her wedding dress for the first time! It was so sweet and precious seeing how excited he was.
Due to Covid, Steve and Mallika were unsure how their wedding day would go. With changing restrictions and uncertain times they had changed their plans from a big wedding at The Whiskey Factory, to a backyard wedding, and then last minute changed it to a very intimate wedding at The Whiskey Factory. They took every precaution to ensure that everyone was safe at their celebration. It worked out so well that they could at least have some of their guest list with them at their original venue. It was truly a beautiful ceremony.
After their ceremony Steve and Mallike took some time for just the two of them. We went out onto the rooftop, I walked ahead of them so they could have some time to breathe without a vendor really in their space and they could just be. I directed a few portraits, but most of these images are just what happened and their natural movements together.
After we took a few pictures I went inside and they stayed on the rooftop to soak it all in. Your day is for you and your partner. Take your time. Look into your partners eyes. Hood their hand. Smell the air around you. Soak it all in. Your wedding day can go by so fast, it's okay to take a beat to acknowledge what is happening and truly experience it.
Soon after their portraits they came inside for their dinner. With long tables with household groupings and friend groups gathered, they had an intimate dinner with beautiful tables-capes with candles, cheesecloth, and stunning florals. Just before dinner they took a variation of group pictures with their wedding party and family and friends.
When Steve and Mallika walked up to the head table, their friends and family cheered for them and the couple went in for a kiss. They shared with their friends and family how much it meant to them that they had come to their wedding and were there to celebrate with them. Even though it didn’t look like their original plan. The room was full of so much love and gratitude.
