Corey + Liz Grand Rapids Wedding at The Cheney Place
Corey and Elizabeth had their romantic winter wedding at The Cheney Place in Grand Rapids. It was the perfect space to host their wedding. With all of their family and friends, they had a beautiful ceremony lined with white pews, an arch with draping floral, and a rug that would be in their future home.
Elizabeth and Corey are such humble and beautiful people. The entire day there was a peace about them with excitement for their day. Liz got ready surrounded by her bridesmaids and mom. With funky couches and to sit in and do their makeup, and mimosas to start off their day, there was so much good energy about them. Liz’s mom and sisters helped her get into her dress, checking every detail, and helping her with her veil. It was a beautiful moment that she had with just the three of them. After putting on her final details, Liz walked around the corner to see her dad for the first time that day. He cried! It was so sweet! After lots of hugs, Liz walked around the corner to show off her look to her bridesmaids. More tears (happy tears!) were shed and hugs were given. Everyone was hyping Liz up telling her how beautiful she is! While Liz was upstairs with her girls, Corey was downstairs with his guys getting ready. They had a few beers and realized and hung out with one another. Corey’s best man helped him with his final details to make sure he looked perfect for his big day. While Corey was making sure he was ready for his big day, his dad was setting up their dessert table. He put every doughnut on the wall himself, set up the cake, strung the lights, and even built the wooden wall that the donuts were on. Everyone was prepping for the wedding and helping in the most wonderful ways.
Their friends and family filled the white pews. Liz’s mom and dad both walked her down the aisle where Liz and Corey saw one another for the first time on their wedding day. Liz was smiling from ear to ear. Corey looked like he was holding back tears and was the happiest man alive in that moment! It was the most beautiful thing!! As they said their vows, and exchanged rings, they stood on a beautiful artisan rug. While they were deciding details for their wedding, they were trying to decide which rug from the venue to use for their ceremony. But Liz’s sister did one better, she bought them one! This allowed them to take a part of their ceremony into their home in a beautiful unique way. They stood on that rug and promised one another that they would be their partner for life.
After their ceremony Liz and Corey had a moment alone in the back room and smiled from ear to ear embracing that they JUST GOT MARRIED. The emotions were high and the love was real. Their friends and family went up to cocktail hour and mingled while we took their wedding pictures with family and their wedding party. At the bar they had their specialty drink and it was named after their dog! If their dog couldn’t physically be there, at least he was part of their day in some way! After we took pictures of the two of them Liz and Corey exchanged their vows in private. They didn’t need it photographed, they just took that moment for themselves to share their hearts with one another.
Once their vows were said, it was time for the reception and the party to start. With speeches by their siblings and friends - bringing tears to everyone’s eyes from laughing so hard the mood was set. It was an amazing night filled with joy and laughter. Dinner was street tacos (literally the best) and there were a ton of tapered candles and it was the most romantic dinner. Soon after dinner Corey and Liz surprised some family members with cake - there were multiple birthdays on their wedding day and they made sure to include them in the celebrations. Then first dances took place under the disco balls and they were surrounded by their family and friends. After first dances, the dance floor was open and they danced the night away!
“Shelby was hands down the best choice we could have made for our wedding. It’s easy to see that she genuinely goes ABOVE AND BEYOND for her clients. She is so kind, easygoing, passionate about her work, and is amazing at what she does. I can’t recommend her enough. If you want to work with someone who is going to build you up, have fun with you, and be there for you on your special day, Shelby’s your gal. We’re so happy she was part of our day! “ Thank you for letting me be your wedding photographer!
